Craigs Baptist Church has developed a partnership with Friendship Baptist Church which is located in Coeburn, Virginia. The purpose of the partnership was to help our youth develop a good understanding of what it means to be mission minded and broaden their outlook on the community around them.  We in turn are helping Friendship Baptist Church with their task of feeding children in their community.

Friendship Baptist Church is located in southwest Virginia.  Unemployment in that area is high and coal mining is the major source of employment.  We were introduced to Friendship Baptist Church through the Virginia Baptist Mission Association.  We soon learned that Friendship Baptist Church has taken on the responsibility of feeding approximately 300 children during the summer months when school is not in session.  The church prepared lunches and distributed the food to those children who would have been part of the school lunch program. The community around Coburn stepped up to the plate and was willing to help with preparing and distributing food.  It didn’t take long for Craigs Baptist Church to feel the calling and begin collecting food to be taken to Coeburn. For the past two years we have taken food and school supplies to Coeburn.  We are always amazed with the concern and compassion that others feel for the children in Coeburn.  In 2009 we were also able to collect coats for the children.
