Check out the article in The Free-Lance Star that featured the Constructors for Christ work on our new Community Life Center!
Craigs Baptist Church is building a Community Life Center. We pictured this project as being further out into the future, but things have developed in ways we had not imagined! We were introduced to a group called Constructors for Christ and the time frame has shrunk considerably! "Constructors" gave five weeks of volunteer labor and finished a massive chunk of the work needing to be done! There are still numerous jobs to be done. We are working on a task list at present and will work together to finish the job in the coming months.
July 26, 2010 - Sheetrock is being finished! Wiring is being run, plumbing is in place for most of the building! Tile is down in most of the "wet areas" including 5 bathrooms and the kitchen! Things are really moving along, thanks for Constructors for Christ! As things take more shape around the building, we stand in awe at the progress! The picture is taking shape and we can begin to imagine all the possibilities!
Constructors for Christ finished their their final week and have returned to their homes. We have built some deep relationships during their time with us and we hate to see them go! A good number of us are looking forward to joining the project next year for renewing these relationships! It will be a pleasure to "pay it forward" and to bless another church in this special way!
The church has hired Gary Loeffler as Project Manager to oversee the completion of the project. Gary will be working on task lists and gaining an understanding of the skills in the church body so we cna cooperate to complete the work. Work days will be arranged and posted here as well as at the church. If you would like to be a part of the work, contact us and we'll find a way to involve you!
It is not just about kids...
Even though our logo speaks of "Building Up Our Youth," the Community Center will be an asset to every member of the community. From exercise and other classes for seniors to day-care and after-school care for children and their parents; from food and clothing programs for those who find themselves in need to sportsmen looking for hunter safety programs. These are just a few of the many endless opportunities that a Community Center can provide for this area.
We will be posting fresh photos and links here so you can follow the progress with us. If you would like to join us in this project, we'd love to hear from you! There are many ways that you can partner with us -- from volunteering to come "swing a hammer" to assisting with procurement of materials...etc...or simply making a financial gift to represent your belief in the vision of this project. If you have any questions, please contact the church office.
