John Swain - Senior Pastor

John Swain has been the pastor of Craigs Baptist Church since 1992. Prior to taking up the role of Pastor at Craigs, John was involved in the Gideons ministry, distributing Bibles, and has a background in business and retail management.
John has an earnest desire to see Craigs Church faithful and effective in reaching out to the community. He believes that Jesus Christ is the only answer to the needs of man and that the church is the tool God intends to use for the purpose of introducing people to Jesus. John sees the Bible as the means to effectively know and follow Jesus.
When he isn't taken up with ministry responsibilities, you are like to see John on either his Honda Goldwing of his Honda Shadow. An avid motorcyclist, John is a member of the Christian Motorcyclists Association and sees it as another opportunity to share the importance of Jesus with people he has a chance to impact.
If you'd like to reach John, call the church office. If he isn't in, ask for his cell number. He wants to talk with you!

Bill Morris - Assistant Chairman of Deacons
(Pictured w/ his wife Jeanette)
When Bill moved to Spotsylvania, he and Jeannette started looking for a church to attend. They tried different local churches but they just didn't seem to fit in any of them. One day while driving past Craigs church (only 1/4 mile from home), they decided to try this one. The next Sunday they attended Craigs Baptist Church for the first time. After that, Bill says his life changed in ways he could not believe. They had found their new church family! Bill says he will never leave Craigs Baptist until God takes him home.
Bill was ordained as a deacon in 2004. Before his deacon training was completed, God laid on Bills heart a ministry for the senior church members and friends of the church who were homebound and could no longer attend church or were not affiliated with a church. Bill began reproducing each Sunday's sermon on cassette tape and visiting the homebound to give them a copy of the sermon. God has also led him to do one-on-one Bible studies and communion with them each month. They can't come to church so the Lord has equipped him to take these aspects of church life to them.
Bill's favorite Bible passages are:
-
Matthew 10:38 And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me..
-
Matthew 16:24 If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.
-
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Tony Davis - Deacon
(pictured with his wife Neta)

Tony Davis says that there’s nothing special about him except that he's easy to get along with. He has had a pretty structured life growing up as an Army Brat as well as serving 20 years of his own in the military.
He came to the Lord in 2000 during a tough time in his life full of many changes. He says the Lord took him from an empty life full of worry to a life full of joy -- and no worrying. That joy is what made him want to serve the Lord. He asked the Lord to give him something to do in the church, and now he is a deacon.
Tony knows that serving as a Deacon can be a rewarding experience. He sees that serving in the Deacon ministry will enrich his life through fellowship and increase his knowledge through fellow Christians. Most important of all is that this is what the Lord has given him to do.
Tony has two favorite Bible verses. Proverbs 19:20 tells us to “Listen to advice and accept instruction, and in the end, you will be wise”. Proverbs 16:32 tells us “Better a patient man than a warrior, a man who controls his temper than one who takes a city”. These are excellent words to live by because they have taught Tony to be patient and to lean on the Lord for guidance.
